William Sydnor commits to the Rutgers

Rutgers added an important frontcourt piece with the commitment of Will Sydnor, the former Manhattan forward who announced his decision after entering the transfer portal. Sydnor gives the Scarlet Knights a proven option up front and arrives with real upside after making a strong early impression at Manhattan.

The 6 foot 8 forward was one of the more respected names available at his spot in the portal. According to On3’s Rutgers coverage, Sydnor was ranked No. 87 overall and No. 24 among power forwards in the portal. He also averaged 13.9 points and 6.8 rebounds as a true freshman and was previously named MAAC Rookie of the Year, showing he can already produce at a high level.

For Rutgers, this looks like a smart pickup. Sydnor brings size, scoring, and rebounding to a roster that is still being reshaped for next season. If he settles in quickly, he could be one of the more important transfer additions for the Scarlet Knights heading into 2026 to 27.
